Spiš (in Latin: Scepusium, in Polish: Spisz, in German: Zips, in Hungarian: Szep?) is the name of a historic administrative county in northern eastern Slovakia from a time when Slovakia was part of Hungary. Today only an informal designation of the corresponding territory. Situated between the High Tatra and the Dunajec river in the north, the springs of the V? river in the west, the Slovensk?rudohorie mountains in the south, and the towns (including) Jaklovce and Star?Ľubovňa in the east.

Historically a very prosperous region, nowadays a very poor region of Slovakia. Till WW II largely German population.
