Oka crisis

The Oka crisis was an
event which began on
March 11th,
1990, and lasted until
September 26th, in the town of Oka, Quebec. The town planned on building a
golf course over
Mohawk Indian burial ground called Kanehsatake. The crisis caused a confrontation between the
Quebec Provincial Police, the
Canadian Forces and the
Mohawk tribe.
