Nerdanel was the wife of Fëanor and the daughter of Mahtan. She had red hair like her father, which was rare among the Eldar. She was not regarded beautiful among her people. She was peaceful and became estranged from her husband following his deeds regarding the Silmarils. She bore to him seven sons, Maedhros, Maglor, Celegorm, Caranthir, Curufin, Amrod and Amras.
