John Aikin

John Aikin (1747 - 1822) was a writer born in Leicestershire, England.

Among his works are:

• "Evenings at Home"(1792-95)
• "General Biography" (ten volumes, completed in 1815)
• "Annals of the Reign of George III" (1816)
• "Select Works of the British Poets" (1820)

His son, Arthur Aikin, was a prominent scientist and his daughter, Lucy Aikin, was a biographer.
