Hypnotic is either the state of
hypnosis or a
drug that induces
sleep, used in the treatment of severe
insomnia.
Drugs used include barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cyclopyrrolone, chloral hydrate, chlormethiazole or the antihistamines promethazine and diphenhydramine.
