Hamburgisch

1. Hamburgisch is a Low Saxon dialect and a variant of Northern Low Saxon language spoken in Hamburg, in Germany.

It is a special city dialect with lots of anglicismss and Dutch expressions. "Hamburg" is pronounced "Hamborch" in this lowland dialect, with a "ch" similar to that in the Standard German word "Milch".

Quite typical most subdialects of the hamburgian dialect is the use of eu (spoken oi) for the vowel ?/em>, e.g.

The low saxon language in Hamburg is divided in several subdialects, e.g. 2. The term Hamburgisch is also used for Missingsch, a special dialect of high german with low german grammar and loanwords.
