Defense Superior Service Medal

From Wacklepedia - The Free Encyclopedia

The Defense Superior Service Medal (DSSM) of the United States is awarded to members of the armed forces who rendered "superior meritorious service in a position of significant responsibility" [1] after 6 February 1976. It is "specifically intended to recognize exceptionally superior service, and to honor an individual's accomplishments over a sustained period."

The DSSM takes precedence after the Silver Star, and before the Legion of Merit.
