Crossing the line

Crossing the line is a naval ceremony commonly encountered when a sailor crosses the
equator for the first time. During the ceremony the
polywogs (commonly called wogs) are subjected to assorted embarrassing or uncomfortable activities on the way to becoming
shellbacks.
