The Chess Olympiad is a chess event which has been organized by FIDE every second year since 1927.

The 2004 Olympiad was originally planned to take place at Cala Galdana on Menorca, but in October 2003, a change of venue to Calvi?on Mallorca was announced. This change was apparently motivated by funding difficulties. The 2006 Olympiad is due to be held in Turin in Italy.
