Adams-On? Treaty

The Adams-On? treaty of 1819 settled border disputes between the United States and Spain. In the agreement, the U.S. paid $5 million dollars for the territorial rights of Florida and relinquished its claims of parts of Texas and other Spanish areas.

The Adams-On? treaty manifested through the increasing tensions between the United States and Spain regarding territorial rights, issues that rose primarily in Floridian and Mexican borders.

The diplomacy was complicated.
